A bichectomy is a surgical treatment used to improve the appearance of the mid to lower parts of the face. For this procedure, our dentists will safely remove buccal fat from the cheeks, leaving you with slimmer and more sculpted cheekbones. You may be a good candidate for a bichectomy if:
  • You are in your mid 20s and early 30s.
  • You have a round or square face shape with excess fat in your cheeks.
Just like any other surgery, you will first need to meet with our dentists and team for a consultation. During this visit, we will evaluate your facial appearance to see if a bichectomy is suitable for you. If so, we will have you come back for the official procedure.
Before we begin a bichectomy, our team will safely administer a local anesthetic to ease any discomfort. Once this is done, Dr. Irving Alvarez or Dr. Enrique Alvarez Montero will make a small incision in the cheek and apply pressure on the outside to easily remove the buccal fat. After the fat has been removed, we will seal the area with sutures.
Following your procedure, you will be given a list of post-op instructions to promote a healthy recovery at home.
